All classes and examinations at Jagannath University (JnU) have been suspended for today, Sunday (November 23). The decision was announced by the university administration following multiple earthquake tremors felt across the capital on Saturday (November 22), which left students and staff deeply concerned.
However, activities related to the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JUCU) elections will continue as planned.
Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University, confirmed the decision:
“The repeated earthquakes in the capital have created a state of panic among students and everyone else. Consequently, we have decided to suspend classes and examinations for tomorrow, Sunday.”
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the suspension is temporary: “This is only for today. Although all classes and examinations are suspended, the JUCU electoral activities will remain operational. We have informed all relevant parties, and an official notice will be issued shortly.”
The university administration took this measure swiftly, acknowledging the widespread anxiety among the students following the recent seismic events.
